South Kamloops-Downtown
South Kamloops is downtown plus the smaller outlets east and west of it. The word Kamloops translates to mean “meeting of the waters” in the Secwepemc Indian Band language, or Shuswap. The town blossomed with gold discovery in 1858, but once Canada became a whole in 1871 Kamloops received its first transcontinental railroad in 1886. Kamloops, centrally located between Calgary and Vancouver, is a robust hub.
