The upper area of Batchelor heights is a developing community with many new homes. The lower area of Batchelor Heights consists of more mature homes. Grasslands Blvd has a number of townhouse units as well as Quail Drive and Stagecoach Drive. Half-duplex units can be found on Raven Crescent.

There is no retail or commercial shopping in Batchelor Heights. There is shopping nearby at North Hills Mall, a short five-minute drive. There is also a Safeway grocery store, Canadian Tire and many fast food locations located within a five-minute drive from Batchelor Heights.

There are no schools located in Batchelor Heights. Students in the area can attend Westmount Elementary School or Brocklehurst Middle School, Westsyde Secondary School or NorKam Senior Secondary School. There are two private schools located on the North Shore of Kamloops. Our Lady of Perpetual Help (grades K-7) and Kamloops Christian School (grades K-12).
Thompson Rivers University is a fifteen-minute drive from Batchelor Heights.

Batchelor Heights Activities
Lac du Bois Grasslands protected area of 15712 hectares was established in 1996. Sweeping grassland vistas, spectacular cliffs and canyons, cool, dry forests, secret ponds and small lakes await the visitor to the newest grasslands protected area in the province. It rises north and westward from the hot, dry Thompson valleys through three grassland communities to the forested hills above. Nowhere else in western North America will you find these grassland communities in such close proximity to each other. Many outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, fishing, hunting, pets on a leash, wildlife viewing and snowshoeing are all popular. Campfires are only permitted at the Watching Creek campground. There is a small, fully fenced and centrally located playground within the Batchelor Heights neighbourhood for children to enjoy.
